The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late mother was once again insulted, this time allegedly by RJD workers during Tejashwi Yadav’s ongoing ‘Bihar Adhikar Yatra’.

Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary accused Tejashwi Yadav of encouraging the abuses, calling it a blow to Bihar’s culture and warning that the state’s women would hold him accountable.

“Tejashwi Yadav has once again insulted Modi ji’s late mother. He has torn apart the culture of Bihar. In the rally, RJD workers hurled abuses, and Tejashwi encouraged them. The mothers and sisters of Bihar will surely hold him accountable for this thuggish mentality and abusive behaviour,” Choudhary wrote on X, sharing a purported video of the incident.

HT could not independently verify the video, which has gone viral on social media.

Calling the acts a “grave insult to democracy,” Choudhary added: “Has insulting mothers and sisters become their culture and weapon to counter opposition parties? The people of Bihar understand this dirty politics and will respond democratically.”

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai also criticised Tejashwi Yadav, likening him to mythological figures Kans and Kaliya Naag. He warned that voters would deliver a fitting response in the upcoming Legislative Assembly elections.

“Tejashwi Yadav’s goons have committed a grave sin by abusing PM Narendra Modi and his revered mother. By repeatedly abusing them, these people are causing havoc. Tejashwi, we will destroy you like Kansa. The people of Bihar will soon respond with their votes. You are spewing venom like Kaliya Naag,” Rai said.

Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha echoed the criticism on X, stating: “Once again, abuses were hurled at the late mother of PM Modi during Tejashwi Yadav’s yatra, and the RJD leader was boosting the morale of his workers. This shows their mindset.”

Tejashwi Yadav, expected to lead the INDIA bloc in the forthcoming Bihar assembly elections, began the ‘Bihar Adhikar Yatra’ from Jehanabad on September 16. The first leg, which concluded on September 20 in Vaishali, covered NDA strongholds including Nalanda, home to JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar, and Begusarai, the constituency of BJP leader Giriraj Singh.
