Vijay Hazare Trophy: Vaibhav Suryavanshi Hits 190 With 15 Sixes, Outshines Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli
Vaibhav Suryavanshi put on a dazzling display in Bihar’s Vijay Hazare Trophy clash, showcasing power and precision far beyond his years. The young batter fell just short of a double-century world record, finishing with 190 off 84 balls, including 15 sixes. His innings featured the second-fastest List A century by an Indian and the fastest 150 in List A cricket, achieved 10 balls quicker than the previous record.
Meanwhile, India’s ODI stalwarts Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma returned to domestic action, signaling their preparation for the next phase of international cricket. Delhi, led by Rishabh Pant, opted to field first against Andhra, while Sikkim chose to bat first against Mumbai.
Though retired from Test cricket and largely absent from T20Is, Kohli and Rohit remain dominant in the 50-over format. To maintain their top form ahead of upcoming ODIs, they are using the Vijay Hazare Trophy to get valuable match practice. Rohit last played for Mumbai in this tournament in 2018, while Kohli hasn’t donned the Delhi jersey since 2010, at the age of 22.
Both Delhi and Mumbai aim for deep runs in the tournament, and the presence of these two experienced leaders adds significant weight to their campaigns. Delhi’s match against Andhra will be held at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, relocated from the Chinnaswamy Stadium, while Mumbai faces Sikkim at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.
Kohli and Rohit’s return underlines that the 50-over format remains their forte, and they continue to take steps toward peak performance ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup. Their participation this week is as much about match practice as it is about integrating with their domestic teammates.
