Speaking at the India Global Forum in London, British Science Minister Lord Patrick Vallance highlighted India’s growing leadership in cutting-edge research and digital innovation, stating that the UK sees Indian professionals as critical contributors to its global competitiveness in sectors like AI, biotech, and space.

What’s Changing in 2025

The Global Talent visa—already one of the most flexible immigration routes in the UK—has been updated in 2025 with several enhancements:

• Faster Processing for Priority Fields: Applicants in AI, cybersecurity, and advanced computing can expect visa decisions in just three weeks.

• No Job Offer Required: Unlike traditional skilled worker visas, the Global Talent visa allows recipients to work independently, change employers, or even start their own businesses.

• Rigorous Endorsement Criteria: Candidates must demonstrate internationally recognized achievements, such as published research, patents, or global awards.

• Updated Fees and Surcharge: Applicants will pay £524 for endorsement and £192 for the visa application itself, along with a revised National Health Surcharge of approximately £1,035 per year.
