In a major move to attract international talent and promote tourism, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has unveiled four new visit visa categories and introduced updates to its residency system.

The new visa categories cover Artificial Intelligence (AI), Entertainment, Events, and Cruise Tourism. Additionally, changes have been made to business and truck driver visas, while residency options have been expanded to include humanitarian aid recipients, widows and divorcees, and friends and relatives of UAE residents.

New Visa Categories

1. Artificial Intelligence (AI) Specialist Visa
Recognizing the growing importance of AI, the UAE has introduced a dedicated visa for AI specialists. The visa allows single or multiple entries over a specified period and requires a letter from a host or sponsoring company in the technology sector. This initiative aims to strengthen the country’s tech ecosystem and attract global expertise.

2. Entertainment Visa
The entertainment visa targets foreigners visiting the UAE temporarily for leisure or commercial entertainment purposes. It is specifically designed for individuals involved in the digital and commercial entertainment sectors, supporting the country’s growth in this industry.

3. Event Visa
This visa is granted to visitors attending festivals, exhibitions, conferences, or other events in the UAE. Sponsorship is required from the event organizer—public or private—with a letter detailing the event and its duration.

4. Cruise Tourism Visa
To support the growing cruise tourism sector, the UAE now offers a multiple-entry visa for travelers arriving via cruise ships or boats. Valid for itineraries that include UAE stops, the visa requires sponsorship by a licensed facility, facilitating seamless maritime travel.

Other Residency Updates

Humanitarian Residence Permit
A renewable one-year permit has been introduced for individuals in need of humanitarian aid, such as refugees affected by war or crises, ensuring support during vulnerable situations.

Visit Visa for Friends and Relatives
Residents can now sponsor friends and relatives up to the third degree, based on income, enabling them to visit the UAE.

Truck Driver Visa
To address labor shortages in the logistics sector, the UAE has launched a truck driver visa. This can be single or multiple-entry and must be sponsored by a licensed logistics company.

Residency for Widows and Divorcees
Widows and divorcees can now apply for a renewable one-year residence permit, providing them with greater security under defined conditions.

Business Exploration Visa
Targeted at entrepreneurs, this visa requires proof of financial solvency to establish a company or professional practice, allowing holders to engage in business activities within the UAE.
