Trump to Blast ‘Globalist Institutions,’ Palestinian Recognition in UN Speech

US President Donald Trump will attack “globalist institutions” and denounce Western recognition of a Palestinian state in his first address of his second term to the UN General Assembly on Tuesday, the White House said.

Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters Monday that Trump will present “the renewal of American strength around the world” and argue that international organizations have “significantly decayed the world order.”

Trump, a longtime critic of the UN and multilateral bodies, has cut funding or withdrawn the US from several of its agencies under his “America First” approach.

The White House said Trump will also convene a multilateral meeting with leaders from key Muslim nations — including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Turkiye, Pakistan, Egypt, the UAE and Jordan — on the sidelines of the gathering.

The summit comes as Britain, Canada, Australia and France move to recognize a Palestinian state, a step Israel strongly opposes. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, set to speak Friday, has vowed to expand settlements in the occupied West Bank in response.

Leavitt said Trump “disagrees” with the recognitions, calling them a “reward to Hamas.” She noted he pressed the point directly with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer during a state visit last week.

Trump will also meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as Kyiv seeks stronger Western security guarantees against Russia, and Argentine President Javier Milei, whose government is pursuing US-backed financial support to stabilize markets.
