Former US President Donald Trump on Sunday announced that countries supporting what he called the “Anti-American policies” of the BRICS alliance would face an additional 10% tariff, warning there would be “no exceptions” to the move.

“Any Country aligning themselves with the Anti-American policies of BRICS, will be charged an ADDITIONAL 10 percent Tariff. There will be no exceptions to this policy. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” Trump posted on Truth Social.

He did not clarify what specific policies he considered “Anti-American” within the BRICS framework.

The BRICS bloc—originally comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa—has recently expanded to include Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Indonesia.

Trump also announced plans to begin notifying countries about changes to tariffs and trade deals on Monday.

“I am pleased to announce that the UNITED STATES TARIFF Letters, and/or Deals, with various Countries from around the World, will be delivered starting 12:00 P.M. (Eastern), Monday, July 7th,” he said.
