Trump Reverses Stance, Says He Has ‘Very Good’ Relations with Russia, China, North Korea
Hours after accusing Russia, China, and North Korea of “conspiring” against the US, President Donald Trump on Wednesday changed his tone, saying he maintains a “very good” relationship with all three nations.
Trump’s remarks came following China’s victory parade in Beijing, attended by Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, where the three leaders were seen interacting amicably.
Calling the parade a “beautiful ceremony,” Trump said it was impressive and suggested it was meant to capture his attention, which he acknowledged. “My relationship with all of them is very good, and we are going to find out how good it is over the next week or two,” he told reporters.
Earlier, Trump had criticized Xi, accusing him of plotting against the US and expressing disappointment that America’s support during China’s fight against Japanese aggression in 1945 was not mentioned in the speech.
Russia dismissed Trump’s earlier “conspiring” allegation, with Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov saying, “No one has been conspiring, no one has been plotting anything,” while acknowledging the US’s role in the current international scenario.
