Trump Claims ‘Triple Sabotage’ at UN, Cites Escalator, Teleprompter, Sound Glitches

President Donald Trump on Wednesday alleged he was the target of “three very sinister events” during his appearance at the United Nations General Assembly, saying the Secret Service will investigate.

Trump, who delivered a combative speech criticizing the UN, European allies, and immigration policies, later posted on Truth Social that his day was marred by a trio of incidents he called “triple sabotage.”

He said an escalator carrying him and his entourage “screeched to a halt,” which UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric attributed to a U.S. videographer accidentally hitting the stop mechanism. Trump also claimed his teleprompter went dark mid-speech, though a UN official noted the White House controlled its operation. Finally, he complained the hall’s sound system cut out, leaving only interpreter earpieces working.

“This wasn’t a coincidence,” Trump wrote, urging the UN to preserve security footage. UN officials noted escalators there frequently stop due to budget-related energy-saving measures.
