Three Wives, Past Tragedy: New Details Emerge on Father in Ghaziabad Sisters’ Suicide Case

New details have emerged in the suicide case of three minor sisters in Ghaziabad, with investigators uncovering a complicated family arrangement and long-standing domestic and financial pressures that may have contributed to the tragedy.

The sisters, aged 16, 14 and 11, died on Wednesday after jumping from the ninth floor of their high-rise apartment, where they lived with their 42-year-old father, a stock trader, and his wives.

Police investigations revealed that the father has three wives — Sujata, Heena and Tina — who are biological sisters, according to PTI. Sujata is the mother of the eldest daughter, Nishika, while Heena is the mother of the two younger sisters, Prachi and Pakhi.

Investigators are also examining the father’s past relationship with a live-in partner who died under suspicious circumstances in 2015 after falling from a building in Rajendra Nagar.

According to police, the father first married 18 years ago and later married his wife’s younger sister after the couple struggled to conceive. Financial difficulties reportedly intensified after 2020 following losses during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Officials said the three sisters appeared to be more emotionally attached to their father than to their mothers. This was reflected in a suicide note addressed to him, which did not mention their mothers.

Preliminary findings from scene reconstruction and post-mortem examinations suggest no evidence of foul play. Investigators said the sisters likely jumped one after another.

Cybercrime teams are working to trace the mobile phones used by the girls through their IMEI numbers to recover data from Korean applications, while forensic reports are awaited.

Police said the case is being investigated from multiple angles, including claims of online gaming addiction, family disputes and financial stress. A nine-page diary recovered from their room indicates a strong attachment to Korean culture and possible domestic discord.

Authorities continue to treat the case as suicide, pending final forensic findings.

The sisters were cremated at Nigam Bodh Ghat in Delhi on Wednesday evening.
