Three Dead, Two Missing After Cloudburst Hits Rajgarh in J&K’s Ramban District
At least three people were killed and two others remain missing after a cloudburst struck the Rajgarh area of Ramban district in Jammu and Kashmir early Saturday, officials said. Rescue operations are currently underway.
“Around 12:30 a.m., a cloudburst hit Drubla Natna in Rajgarh, damaging two houses and a school building. Three people have lost their lives while two remain missing. Relief and rescue teams have been mobilized,” a police officer said.
The district administration has deployed teams to assist affected residents. The Jammu region has faced widespread destruction in recent heavy rains, with at least 138 people killed in rain-related incidents across Kishtwar, Kathua, and Reasi districts between August 14 and 26.
The Meteorological Department has forecast one to two spells of rain and thunderstorms across parts of the Jammu division from Friday afternoon through September 2. Officials warned of possible moderate to heavy rainfall and advised residents to stay alert.
