Vivek Agnihotri’s upcoming film The Bengal Files, the third in his Files Trilogy after The Kashmir Files and The Tashkent Files, is set to release on September 5, 2025. Like its predecessors, the film has already generated buzz and debate. The trailer indicates a focus on Direct Action Day, the 1946 Calcutta Killings, and the Noakhali riots—events the filmmaker calls “the most brutal chapter” of Indian history.

The film stars Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, and Pallavi Joshi. Ahead of its release, here are five gripping films based on real-life incidents to stream on OTTplay Premium:

Depicts the 1990 exodus of Kashmiri Pandits through the journey of Krishna Pandit, a JNU student who uncovers the truth about his family’s past.
