Thailand’s much-anticipated “Half-Price Thailand Travel” scheme is set to open for public registration on 25th June 2025, aiming to jumpstart domestic tourism with a 1.76 billion baht economic stimulus package approved by the Cabinet.

Tourism and Sports Minister Sorawong Thienthong announced that the Cabinet has endorsed a broader stimulus budget of 115.375 billion baht, of which 10.053 billion baht is earmarked specifically for tourism.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), which received the 1.76 billion baht allocation, will oversee the programme’s rollout. According to TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool, the scheme will run from 1st July to October 2025, offering a total of 500,000 entitlements to registered Thai residents.

Key Highlights of the Scheme:

  • Five entitlements per person: Three for major cities and two for designated secondary cities

  • Weekday accommodation subsidy: 50% of the cost, capped at 3,000 baht

  • Weekend/public holiday subsidy: 40% of the cost, also capped at 3,000 baht

  • Each entitlement includes a 500 baht coupon redeemable at participating restaurants and tourism activities

The TAT began registration for tourism operators last week, and public registration will officially open on the evening of 24th June, with full access from the following day.

This initiative is expected to inject over 35 billion baht into the Thai economy by encouraging domestic travel and supporting local tourism businesses.

Funds are also being allocated to key departments including the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Department of Tourism, Sports Authority of Thailand, Royal Thai Police, and other cultural and resource agencies.

The government hopes this strategic stimulus will not only revive post-pandemic travel activity but also spread the economic benefits of tourism more evenly across Thailand’s urban and rural destinations.
