Actress Tanushree Dutta has revealed that she was supposed to collaborate on a film with late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. According to Dutta, the project never materialized due to Sushant’s untimely death in 2020, which left her deeply affected. She expressed that the opportunity had given her a sense of renewed purpose in her career, and Sushant’s passing reminded her of the psychological toll the industry can take on sensitive individuals.
Allegations of Ongoing Harassment
Tanushree went on to share alarming details about what she claims is a prolonged campaign of harassment against her since her return to Mumbai following her vocal participation in India’s MeToo movement. She spoke of being stalked, poisoned through food tampering, and subjected to multiple intimidation tactics—including a suspicious autorickshaw accident during a pilgrimage in Ujjain, which she believes was an attempt to seriously harm her.
She stated that these incidents are part of a systematic effort to either push her toward mental breakdown or silence her entirely, drawing a direct parallel to the emotional circumstances she believes surrounded Sushant’s own decline.
On Sushant Singh Rajput’s Death
Tanushree voiced strong discontent with how Sushant Singh Rajput’s death was handled. She criticized the initial investigative efforts and suggested that deeper forces within the film industry and beyond may have played a role in covering up larger truths. She expressed that Sushant, like her, was a target of systemic pressure that ultimately led to devastating consequences.
Pursuing Justice and Legal Action
Tanushree confirmed that she is in the process of preparing formal police complaints and compiling a full record of the threats and attacks she claims to have endured over the past few years. She has called on authorities for protection and has reiterated her belief that what she’s experiencing is not coincidental but rather a coordinated attempt to damage her reputation, career, and wellbeing.
A Continued Fight Against Abuse of Power
Dutta originally brought attention to the dark side of the industry in 2018 when she accused a veteran actor of harassment on a film set, helping ignite the MeToo movement in India. Since then, she has been a vocal advocate for accountability and safety within the film world, though she maintains that speaking out has come with heavy personal consequences.
