T Raja Singh Resigns from BJP Amid Telangana Leadership Row, Cites Disappointment Over Ramchander Rao’s Appointment

Telangana BJP MLA T Raja Singh resigned from the party on Monday, voicing strong opposition to reports that N Ramchander Rao is likely to be appointed as the new state unit president.

In a letter addressed to G Kishan Reddy, the current Telangana BJP chief, Singh called the reported decision a “shock and disappointment” not just for him, but for “lakhs of Karyakartas, leaders, and voters” who have supported the party. Sharing the letter on X (formerly Twitter), Singh emphasized that many other senior leaders, including MLAs and MPs within the party, are better suited for the role due to their “strength, credibility, and grassroots connect.”

Despite resigning from the BJP, Singh reaffirmed his commitment to Hindutva. “While I may be stepping away from the party, I remain fully committed to the ideology of Hindutva and the service of our Dharma and the people of Goshamahal,” he said. “I will continue to raise my voice and stand with the Hindu community with even greater strength.”

‘BJP Can Still Form Govt in Telangana’

Speaking after his resignation, Singh said he had faced several challenges since joining the BJP in 2014, including personal targeting and alleged neglect of his constituency. He asserted that the BJP has the potential to form the government in Telangana—provided it chooses the right kind of leadership.

“We need a state unit president who is aggressive and rooted in Hindutva,” Singh told ANI. “The people of Telangana connect with leaders who speak about Hindutva without hesitation. Unfortunately, decisions like this could derail the party’s momentum.”

Known for Controversy

T Raja Singh, who represents Goshamahal in the Telangana Assembly, is known for his inflammatory remarks and has faced multiple criminal cases. As recently as April, two FIRs were lodged against him for allegedly using abusive language and issuing threats to police officials during a Ram Navami procession.

His resignation marks a fresh episode of infighting within the Telangana BJP, which has struggled with internal divisions even as it seeks to expand its footprint in the state.
