The Sona Comstar inheritance dispute deepened on Wednesday as Rani Kapur, mother of the late industrialist Sunjay Kapur, contested the authenticity of his alleged will in the Delhi High Court. Represented by senior advocate Vaibhav Gaggar, the 80-year-old matriarch claimed she was not informed of any documents related to her son’s purported will.

“There is something incredibly unholy. ₹10,000 crore worth of assets should have been mine,” Gaggar stated, adding that Rani Kapur sent 15 emails seeking details about the will but received no response. He further raised concerns over the sale of Sona Comstar assets, noting that shares worth ₹500 crore were sold to a Singapore entity without disclosure to his client.

The court instructed all parties to submit a full declaration of Sunjay Kapur’s assets as of June 12, the date of his death. This comes amid a petition filed by Karisma Kapoor’s children, Samaira and Kiaan Raj Kapur, who accused Sunjay’s second wife, Priya Sachdeva, of “forging and fabricating” the will. The suit also names Priya’s son, Rani Kapur, and Shradha Suri Marwah, purported executor of a March 21, 2025, will.

Rani Kapur has also alleged possible foul play in her son’s sudden death, urging UK authorities to investigate and rule out natural causes. She cited potential murder, conspiracy, and financial fraud as concerns.

Mandhira Kapur Smith, sister of the former Sona Comstar chairperson, echoed Rani Kapur’s concerns, questioning the circumstances of Sunjay’s death. “There was a simple request from my mother… When was his last medical test done? Did he check his heart? I want answers. My mum asks me every day, how did this happen? He was fit. Who is giving her answers?” Smith told ANI.
