Indian benchmark indices BSE Sensex and Nifty50 are closed today, April 14, 2026, on account of Ambedkar Jayanti.

Trading across the Bombay Stock Exchange and National Stock Exchange of India—including equity, derivatives, and securities lending and borrowing segments—remains suspended for the day. Normal operations will resume on Wednesday, April 15.

The next market holiday will be on May 1 for Maharashtra Day.

Commodity markets will see partial activity. The Multi Commodity Exchange will remain shut during the morning session but reopen for evening trading, while the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange will stay closed for the entire day.

In the previous session, both Sensex and Nifty pared losses but ended lower, as investors tracked global developments, particularly tensions in the Strait of Hormuz. Meanwhile, global markets showed resilience, with gains across Asia and a strong close on Wall Street.
