South Korean woman allegedly harassed at Bengaluru airport, staffer arrested
A South Korean woman was allegedly sexually harassed by a contract airport staffer at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport on Monday during a routine check, police said. The accused, identified as Affaann Ahmed, has been arrested.
According to KIAL Airport police, the incident occurred during ticket inspection when the staffer claimed the woman’s bag was triggering a beeping sound and asked her to undergo a separate check. He allegedly took her to a men’s restroom and touched her inappropriately under the pretext of inspection. Despite the woman’s objections, the staffer reportedly continued and later let her go after saying “thank you,” according to The Hindu.
Ahmed, a ground staffer employed on a contract basis for security checks, was immediately detained by airport security after the woman lodged a complaint and handed over to airport police. CCTV footage reportedly corroborated the incident.
A case has been registered under Section 75 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and investigations are ongoing.
