Sonu Sood, Salman Khan Among Celebrities Backing Rajpal Yadav in Cheque-Bounce Case
Several Bollywood actors, musicians, and political figures have come forward to express support for actor-comedian Rajpal Yadav, who is currently lodged in Tihar Jail in connection with cheque-bounce cases.
Actors including Salman Khan, Sonu Sood, and Gurmeet Choudhary, along with singer Guru Randhawa and politicians such as Tej Pratap Yadav, have publicly offered assistance after Yadav surrendered to authorities following his conviction in a ₹9 crore cheque-bounce case. The case stems from financial liabilities linked to the commercial failure of Yadav’s 2010 directorial debut.
Earlier, the Delhi High Court declined to extend the deadline for Yadav’s surrender. Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma rejected his plea, stating there were no grounds for relief. Prior to turning himself in, Yadav had spoken of severe financial difficulties.
Following his surrender, messages of solidarity and offers of help have poured in from across the film industry and beyond.
Sonu Sood Offers Work and Financial Support
Actor Sonu Sood extended both professional and financial support, offering Yadav a film opportunity along with a signing amount.
“Rajpal Yadav is a gifted actor who has given years of unforgettable work to our industry. Sometimes life turns unfair, not because of talent, but because timing can be brutal,” Sood wrote on X.
Appealing to the industry, Sood added: “A small signing amount, adjustable against future work, is not charity, it’s dignity,” urging colleagues to stand by the actor.
Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn Among Supporters
Yadav’s manager, Goldie, told Screen that several prominent actors had reached out.
“Actors like Sonu Sood, Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn have extended their support,” the manager said, while declining to comment on whether Yadav had sought help before surrendering.
Industry Figures Step In
Director David Dhawan, actor Varun Dhawan, and producer Ratan Jain are also among those offering assistance.
“I was just on a call with David Dhawan — he too reached out. Ratan Jain, Varun Dhawan… many people are coming forward to help him,” Goldie said.
Guru Randhawa Pledges Advance Payment
Singer Guru Randhawa announced that Yadav would feature in an upcoming music video and said an advance payment had already been made.
“Let’s all help our senior actor @rajpalofficial sir,” Randhawa wrote on Instagram, praising Sonu Sood’s initiative.
Tej Pratap Yadav Announces ₹11 Lakh Aid
Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD) chief Tej Pratap Yadav pledged ₹11 lakh in financial assistance, citing “human compassion and support.”
“In this extremely difficult time, I and my entire JJD family stand in empathy and solidarity,” he said in a post on X.
Rao Inderjeet Singh Offers Legal Assistance
Music producer Rao Inderjeet Singh shared a video message urging public contributions and pledged ₹1.11 crore in legal aid.
“Our team is actively working on this. I humbly appeal to people across India to support the family,” Singh said, adding that he had spoken with Yadav’s younger brother.
Kamaal R Khan Pledges Support
Actor and film commentator Kamaal R Khan (KRK) offered ₹10 lakh and called for collective industry backing.
“Let’s all Bollywood people come together,” he wrote on X.
Gurmeet Choudhary Calls for Solidarity
Actor Gurmeet Choudhary also urged the industry to unite behind Yadav.
“He has given us countless smiles and unforgettable moments. Today, he needs us,” Choudhary said, describing the situation as “heartbreaking.”
