What is a partial eclipse?

A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun. In a partial eclipse, only part of the Sun is obscured.

Upcoming eclipses

This is the last eclipse of 2025. The next one will be an annular solar eclipse on February 17, 2026, visible in Antarctica, Africa, South America, and parts of the oceans. A total solar eclipse will follow in August 2026.

Safety reminder

Never look directly at the Sun without proper protection. Use certified solar eclipse glasses or solar filters. Regular sunglasses are not safe.
