Social Media Influencer Kanchan Kumari Found Dead in Parked Car in Bathinda; Police Suspect Murder
The body of social media influencer Kanchan Kumari, known online as Kamal Kaur Bhabhi, was discovered in a parked car at Adesh Hospital in Bhucho, Bathinda, on Wednesday evening, police confirmed.
Kanchan, a 30-year-old resident of Lachman Colony, Ludhiana, had built a substantial following online. Her verified Instagram account boasted over 3.83 lakh followers and featured more than 1,300 posts. She was also active on multiple other platforms.
Possible Foul Play Suspected
According to Superintendent of Police (City) Narinder Singh, preliminary investigation suggests that Kanchan left Ludhiana on June 9 to attend a promotional event in Bathinda, after which she lost contact with her family. Her body was later found in the rear seat of an apparently abandoned vehicle, prompting police to suspect murder.
“The victim’s family has been informed. Further legal action will follow based on their statements,” the SP said. He added that due to the advanced stage of decomposition, it was not immediately possible to detect any external injury marks. The body has been sent to Shaheed Bhai Mani Singh Civil Hospital for post-mortem.
Past Online Controversy
Sources revealed that Kanchan had previously been targeted by an overseas gangster who criticized her for allegedly using objectionable language in her content. While it is unclear if this incident is linked to her death, authorities are examining all angles.
Discovery and Investigation
Police were alerted after a foul odour was reported emanating from the parked vehicle. Upon inspection, the body was found inside. Investigations are ongoing, and CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed to trace her last known movements.
