Smriti Irani Returns as Tulsi in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi Revival; Promo Unveiled
After 25 years, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is making a grand return — and so is Smriti Irani, reprising her iconic role as Tulsi Virani. The first official promo of the beloved serial’s revival was unveiled by Star Plus on Instagram, reigniting nostalgia among fans across generations.
Tulsi is Back
The promo opens with a family dining at a restaurant, where the show’s classic title track begins to play on a nearby television. A conversation ensues about whether Tulsi will return. Moments later, Smriti Irani is seen — in full Tulsi avatar — watering a tulsi plant.
“Zaroor aaoongi, kyunki humara 25 saalon ka rishta jo hai. Waqt aagaya hai aapse phir milne ka,” she says with a smile and folded hands. Dressed in a purple and golden saree, with her hair neatly tied in a bun, the scene marks a powerful comeback.

The new chapter of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi premieres July 29 at 10:30 PM on Star Plus, and will also be available for streaming on JioCinema (JioHotstar).

Smriti Irani on Returning to Tulsi’s World
Speaking to PTI, Smriti Irani reflected on the show’s legacy and her journey with it.
“Returning to Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is not just a step back into a role, but a return to a story that redefined Indian television and reshaped my own life,” she said.
“It gave me more than commercial success—it gave me a connection with millions of homes… I return not just as an actor, but as someone who believes in the power of storytelling to spark change, preserve culture, and build empathy.”
About the Show
Originally airing from 2000 to 2008, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi was created by Ekta Kapoor and became one of the most-watched shows in Indian television history, spanning over 1,800 episodes. Alongside Smriti Irani, the show featured Amar Upadhyay, Apara Mehta, and Hiten Tejwani, and depicted the trials and tribulations of the fictional Virani family.
As it marks its 25th anniversary, the revival promises a fresh narrative while staying true to its emotional roots — bringing Tulsi back into the hearts and homes of millions once again.
