Sharda University Student Dies by Suicide; Two Staff Members Arrested Following Student Protests

A student at Sharda University in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, died by suicide, according to a report by ANI on Saturday, citing local police officials.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Sudhir Kumar confirmed that the student’s body was found in a university hostel on Friday. Following a complaint lodged by the student’s family, two members of the university’s management have been arrested in connection with the incident.

“Based on the family’s complaint, two university staff members have been arrested,” Kumar told PTI.

He also noted that the incident led to unrest among students, who expressed anger over the university’s handling of the situation. “Students were agitated over Sharda University’s administration. They were pacified. The situation is under control. Further action is being undertaken,” he said, as quoted by ANI.

The student’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination. As of now, Sharda University has not released an official statement regarding the case.
