Shah Rukh Khan praises Anil Kapoor’s performance in Subedaar, calls it ‘restrained yet effective’

Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor has been receiving praise for his performance in Subedaar, with several members of the film industry applauding his work. Among them is superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who recently took to social media to appreciate Kapoor’s performance and dedication to his craft.

On Saturday, Shah Rukh shared his thoughts on the film on X, writing:
“Thoroughly enjoyed #Subedaar. Can always count on @AnilKapoor to give it his all – a restrained yet effective performance. His dedication to the craft is inspiring and the action was so good!!!”

He also praised the rest of the cast, writing:
“Aditya Rawal, Saurabh Shukla, Mona Singh, Faisal Malik, Radhikka Madan – each character was crafted uniquely and all of you put on such a great performance. Well done Suresh Triveni and the entire team… lots of love.”

Responding to the praise, Anil Kapoor thanked Shah Rukh and wrote that his words meant a lot to the entire team. “Your words mean a lot to all of us, especially coming from someone who has given audiences so much love and magic through cinema over the years. Makes this more special for all of us,” he said.

Reports suggest that Shah Rukh and Anil may soon share screen space in the upcoming film King, though an official confirmation is yet to be made.

Earlier, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap had also reviewed Subedaar, saying he enjoyed watching the film but felt it should have been released in theatres rather than on OTT. He praised Anil Kapoor’s performance, Saurabh Shukla’s action sequence and Radhikka Madan’s mix of vulnerability and intensity.

About Subedaar

Directed by Suresh Triveni, Subedaar features Anil Kapoor in the titular role alongside Radhikka Madan, Khushbu Sundar, Saurabh Shukla, Aditya Rawal, Mona Singh and Faisal Malik.

The film, produced by Abundantia Entertainment, Opening Image Films and Anil Kapoor Film & Communication Network, follows the story of a retired soldier who battles corruption and social dysfunction while trying to repair his strained relationship with his daughter, Shyama. While the film received mixed reviews, Kapoor’s performance has been widely appreciated.

Upcoming projects

Shah Rukh Khan will next appear in the action film King, directed by Siddharth Anand. The film also stars Suhana Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Raghav Juyal, Arshad Warsi, Jaideep Ahlawat and Saurabh Shukla in key roles. Reports also suggest that Anil Kapoor and Rani Mukerji may be part of the ensemble cast. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on December 24.

Meanwhile, Anil Kapoor also has the spy thriller Alpha in the pipeline. Backed by Yash Raj Films and directed by Shiv Rawail, the film stars Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh in lead roles, with Bobby Deol playing a key part. The film is expected to release later this year.
