Sensex up 300 pts, Nifty above 26k; SMIDs gain; PSU Bank, Metal shares lead

Indian stock markets were trading with modest gains on Wednesday as JSW Steel, Reliance Industries, and Titan Company share prices led.

The Nifty50 index is poised to end higher for the 10th straight calendar year, rising 10 per cent so far. The Sensex has risen by 8.3 per cent this year.

As of 12:00 AM, the BSE Sensex was trading at 85,019.88 levels, up by 345 points or 0.41 pe cent, while the NSE Nifty 50 was trading 0.51 per cent or 131.20 points higher at 26,070.05 levels.

In the broader market, the Nifty Midcap 100 index was up 1 per cent, while the Nifty Smallcap 100 rose 0.77 per cent.

Sector-wise, the NSE Nifty PSU Bank, the NSE Nifty Metal, and the NSE Nifty Chemicals indices were top performing sectoral indices. Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty IT fell the most.

JSW Steel, Tata Steel, and Titan share prices contiued to lead gains in the NSE Nifty 50 index, while Tata Consultancy Services, Bajaj Finance, and Infosys limited gains in the index.
