Stock markets in India continued to trade higher on Friday after starting lower.

While weakness in Asian markets, and record high price of Gold amid fresh US-China tensions affected sentiment initially, weakness in crude oil prices, with Brent crude testing $60 per barrel, aided markets.

Around 11:30 AM, The BSE Sensex index was at 84,078.04, up 610.38 points or 0.73 per cent, while the Nifty50 was at 25,754.20, higher by 168.90 points or 0.66 per cent.

Asian Paints, Bharti AIrtel and M&M were the top gainers on BSE. On the flipside, Infosys, Eternal and HCLTech were top drags.

In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap index rose 0.06 per cent, while the Nifty SmallCap index added 0.3 per cent.

Among sectors, the Nifty IT index was the top loser, down 1.13 per cent, followed by the Nifty Pharma, and the Nifty PSU Bank indices (down 0.3 per cent each).
