Sensex, Nifty volatile; SmallCap index worst hit; Ola, CDSL, Data Patterns drag
Stock markets in India extended losses after opening marginally lower on Tuesday as investors watched the rising global tensions. Individual stocks, however, saw action amid the ongoing Q3 results season.
The BSE Sensex is at 82,898, down 348 points or 0.42 per cent at 12:05 PM, while the Nifty50 is at 25,431, lower by 155 points or 0.61 per cent.
Bajaj Finance, IndiGo, Asian Paints, Bajaj Finserv, Tech M, Eternal, Trent, Bharti Airtel, Sun Pharma, TCS, Power Grid, HCL Tech, Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, and Infosys were the top losers on the Sensex today, down up to 3 per cent.
In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap index dipped 1.56 per cent, and the Nifty SmallCap index edged 1.82 per cent lower.
Among sectors, all the indices were in the red led by the Nifty Realty index (down 2.2 per cent), the Nifty IT (1.3 per cent), and the Nifty Auto (0.9 per cent).
Primary market action
In the mainboard space, the issue of Shadowfax Technologies will open for bidding. In the SME segment, the IPO of Aritas Vinyl will end today, while the issue of Digilogic Systems will open. In the SME space, shares of Avana Electrosystems will debut on Tuesday.
