Indian stocks turned lower after opening flat on Wednesday, stalling their two-day gaining streak.

The BSE Sensex index was at 83,362 levels, falling 89 points or 0.11 per cent at 11:00 AM, while the Nifty50 was at 25,703, down 22 points or 0.08 per cent. In the Sensex basket, Kwality Wall’s, Tata Steel, ITC, SBI, and Bajaj Finance were leading the gains, trading higher by up to 3.4 percent. In contrast, Tech Mahindra, Infosys, HCL Tech, TCS, and Adani Ports were among the top laggards, trading lower by up to 2.39 per cent.
The broader markets traded mostly flat, with the Nifty Midcap 100 index showing a marginal loss of 0.03 per cent, while the Nifty Smallcap 100 index was up by 0.04 per cent. Meanwhile, the fear index India VIX, which gauges volatility in the markets, was up 2.54 per cent during intraday deals on Wednesday.
Among sectors, the Nifty Metal index advanced 0.87 per cent, the Nifty PSU Bank index gained 1 per cent, and the Nifty FMCG added 0.28 per cent. The Nifty IT index, meanwhile, slipped 2.4 per cent.
