Sensex, Nifty flat; metal, bank, oil & gas stocks rise; Sai Silks up 19%

Indian benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty, were trading flat on Friday, weighed by continued selling from foreign institutional investors (FIIs), even as global markets remained positive and sentiment was supported by the Reserve Bank of India’s dovish policy stance.

At 2:00 PM, the BSE Sensex was trading at 80,995.92 levels, marginally up by 12.61 points or 0.02 per cent. Likewise, NSE Nifty50 was down 9.50 points or 0.04 per cent at 24,826.40 levels.

In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap 100 index was up 0.44 per cent, while the Nifty SmallCap 100 index rose 0.37 per cent.

On BSE, Tata Steel, Power Grid, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Axis Bank and Bharti Airtel were top gainers, while Trent, Maruti Suzuki, Sun Pharma, TechM and UltraTech Cement were top drags.

Sectorally, Nifty Metal, Bank and oil & gas were top gainers, up 1.9 per cent, 0.36 per cent, and 0.32 per cent, respectively. Conversely, the Realty index slipped 0.43 per cent, along with Nifty Pharma, IT and Auto.

In the IPO corner, The mainline IPO segment will see the launch of WeWork India Management IPO today. The basis of allotment for the Fabtech Technologies IPO is likely to get finalised today. Meanwhile, Advance Agrolife IPO and Om Freight Forwarders IPO are set to close for subscription today.
