Sensex near day’s low, down 400 pts; PSBs shine; Tata Investment up 10%

The benchmark Indian equity indices continued to trade lower on Wednesday. At 11 AM, the BSE Sensex was at 81,753, down 348 points or 0.42 per cent, while the NSE Nifty was trading lower by 102 points or 0.41 per cent at 25,067.

On the BSE, Trent, SBI and Asian Paints were the top gainers, while Tata Motors, Tech Mahindra and ICICI Bank were among top laggards.

Similarly, on NSE, Trent, SBI and ONGC were top gainers, while Tech Mahindra, Tata Motors and Hero MotoCorp were top drags.

Broader markets, too, slipped. Nifty SmallCap 100 index was down 0.02 per cent while Nifty MidCap fell 0.29 per cent.

Barring Nifty PSU Bank (up 0.78 per cent), all sectors were trading in the negative zone. Nifty IT was the top loser (down 0.7 per cent), followed by Consumer Durables (down 0.6 per cent).
