Sensex jumps 300 points, Nifty 50 reclaims 25,900

Indian equity benchmarks — the Sensex and Nifty 50 — opened higher on Wednesday, December 10, staging a recovery after two straight sessions of declines.

The Sensex climbed nearly 300 points in early trade to touch 84,945.48, while the Nifty 50 moved back above the 25,900 mark.

On Tuesday, both indices had extended their losing streak for the second day: the Sensex fell 436 points (0.51%) to close at 84,666.28, and the Nifty 50 slipped 121 points (0.47%) to finish at 25,839.65. Over the past two sessions, the Sensex had dropped a total of 1,046 points (1.22%) and the Nifty almost 1.32%.
