Sensex gains 500 pts; Nifty above 25,450; Realty, FMCG shares shine
Equity markets opened higher on Thursday amid stock-specific action during the ongoing Q2 results season.
Around 12 PM, the BSE Sensex index was trading at 83,012, higher by 406.68 points or 0.5 per cent, while the Nifty50 was at 25,450, up 127 points or 0.5 per cent.
Axis Bank, Adani Ports, Titan, Kotak Bank, M&M, Eternal, BEL, Tata Motors, NTPC, and HCL Tech were the top Sensex gainers. On the flipside, Infosys, Tech M, TCS, Tata Steel, and Sun Pharma were the only losers.
In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap index added 0.43 per cent and the Nifty SmallCap index gained 0.28 per cent.
Among sectors, the Nifty Auto, and Nifty Private Bank indices added 0.8 per cent each, followed by the Nifty Realty index (0.6 per cent). The Nifty IT index was the only index in the red, down 0.14 per cent.
Buzzing Stocks
Axis Bank share price jumped 3 per cent after the company reported its Q2FY26 results on Wednesday. The lender reported a 26.4 per cent Y-o-Y decline in net profit to ₹5,089.6 crore,even as its net interest income (NII) increased by 1.9 per cent to ₹13,744.6 crore.
HDFC Life share price slipped 4 per cent as the life insurer’s Q2 profit grew 3 per cent to ₹448.3 crore Y-o-Y, supported by a 13.6 per cent rise in net premium income to ₹18,871.2 crore.
