Sensex drops 370 pts, Nifty breaks 25,900; 5Paisa Capital surges 12%, Groww 5%

Weighed by global weakness, stock markets in India declined on Tueesday with the benchmark indices falling up to 0.4 per cent.

The BSE Sensex index quoted at 84,672, falling 279 points, while the Nifty50 at 25,913, down 101 points.

Tata Steel, Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, Kotak Bank, L&T, M&M, Tech M, HCL Tech, Sun Pharma, and Titan Company were the top Sensex laggards, declining in the range of 0.5-1 per cent.

On the upside, Bharat Electronics, Bharti Airtel, Axis Bank, Eternal, and SBI were the only gainers, rising up to 0.5 per cent.

In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap index fell 0.48 per cent and the Nifty SmallCap index 0.85 per cent.

All the sectoral indices were trading in the red led by the Nifty Metal index (1.5 per cent), the Nifty Realty (1.4 per cent), and the Nifty IT (0.8 per cent).

PhysicsWallah IPO listing

Alakh Pandey-led PhysicsWallah made its stock market debut on the bourses today with the shares listing at 31 per cent premium on the BSE. The stock debuted at ₹143.10 per share vs IPO issue price of ₹109 per share. The stock, further, hit a high of ₹162.05 per share.
