Sensex down 200 pts, Nifty below 25,100; realty, PSBs drag; IT shines

The benchmark Indian equity indices gave up their initial gains and were trading lower during the intra-day deals on Wednesday. At 11:30 AM, the BSE Sensex was trading at 81,718, down 208 points or 0.25 per cent, while the NSE Nifty was at 25,033, down 75 points or 0.30 per cent.

Titan was the top gainer on the Sensex index today, rising 4 per cent intraday, after the company shared its Q2FY26 business update.

That apart, Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Tech Mahindra, AND Bharti Airtel were among other leading gainers in the Sensex, rising by up to 2 per cent. On the other hand, Power Grid, Tata Motors, Bharat Electronics (BEL), Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), and Reliance Industries (RIL) were the top laggards, trading lower by up to 1.33 per cent.

In the broader market, the Nifty Midcap 100 and Smallcap 100 indices were trading lower by 0.34 per cent and 0.41 per cent, respectively.

Among sectors, the Nifty IT index added 1.2 per cent on the NSE, followed by the Nifty Pharma, and Metal indices (up 0.4 per cent each). On the downside, the Nifty Realty index fell 0.36 per cent and the Nifty PSU Bank index 0.27 per cent.
