Sensex down 150 pts, Nifty tests 25,900; SMIDs fall; realty, chemical shares drag

Stock markets in India were trading with losses, weighed by broad-based selling.

At 12:00 PM, the BSE Sensex was 145 points or 0.17 per cent down at 84,550.89 levels, while the NSE Nifty50 was down 43.50 points or 0.17 per cent at 25,898.60 levels.

In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap 100 index slipped 0.40 per cent, and the Nifty SmallCap 100 index declined 0.70 per cent.

Among the Sensex constituents, Eternal, Bajaj Finserv, Ultratech, Bharat Electronics, Infosys, and Trent were the top laggards. Mahindra & Mahindra, Axis Bank, Bharti Airtel, Maruti Suzuki, and Adani Ports were the top gainers.

Among sectors, the Nifty Realty and Nifty Chemicals were the worst performing sectoral indices, down over 1 per cent each. Among others, Nifty Healthcare, Pharma, IT, Financial Services, FMCG, Consumer Durables, and Media were also trading lower. On the contrary, the Nifty Auto, Metal, PSU Bank, and Oil & Gas were trading higher.
