A Russian missile strike on the eastern Ukrainian city of Balakliya killed three people and injured 10 others, including three children, regional officials in Kharkiv said on Monday.

The overnight attack struck the city center, wounding children born in 2007, 2010 and 2011, according to Vitali Karabanov, head of Balakliya’s military administration. He said nine of the injured were hospitalized.

Kharkiv Governor Oleg Synegubov confirmed the strike, reporting at least seven wounded and damage to apartment buildings and vehicles.

There was no immediate comment from Moscow, and Reuters said it could not independently verify Karabanov’s statements.
