Russian Drones Attack Kyiv, Air Defenses Activated

Russian drones struck several districts of Kyiv early Saturday in a massive attack on the Ukrainian capital, with air defense units in operation, officials said.

Mayor Vitali Klitschko said strikes were reported in two districts on opposite sides of the Dnipro River, which bisects the city. “Kyiv is under a massive enemy attack,” Klitschko wrote on Telegram.

Tymur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv’s military administration, said at least three districts were hit, triggering fires in at least two locations. He warned that drone attacks were ongoing and that there was a threat of Russian missile strikes.

In Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, Mayor Ihor Terekhov said Russian drones hit several districts, injuring at least 11 people. He said at least three residential buildings were struck.

The attacks came after negotiators from Ukraine, Russia and the United States concluded the first of two days of talks in the United Arab Emirates aimed at seeking a resolution to the nearly four-year-old war.
