Russia unleashed a fresh wave of drone and missile strikes on Ukraine overnight, killing at least one person and sparking multiple fires across the capital, Kyiv, city officials said Monday.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed that rescue teams and medics were deployed across four districts of the capital, where significant damage was reported. A subway station in central Kyiv, along with commercial buildings, homes, shops, and even a kindergarten, sustained damage during the attack.

The assault triggered another night of fear and disruption in the capital, with loud explosions echoing across the city as Ukrainian air defense systems engaged the incoming drones and missiles. Many residents rushed to underground shelters, including metro stations, to take cover during the bombardment.

In the northeastern city of Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest, regional governor Oleh Synehubov reported multiple explosions. However, he did not immediately provide details regarding casualties or damage.

The latest barrage highlights the ongoing intensity of Russia’s air campaign, targeting Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure, often during the night to maximize disruption and terror among civilians.
