Sensex Gains 400 Points as RIL, Airtel, Tata Motors Rally; Midcaps, Smallcaps in Green

Benchmark Indian equity indices, BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty50, continued to trade higher on Tuesday after starting their trading session on a flat note.

The 30-stock Sensex was quoting at 81,540 levels, higher by 266 points or 0.33 per cent in early deals, while the 50-stock Nifty index was at 24,948, up 72 points or 0.29 per cent.

Tata Motors, Reliance Industries, Adani Ports, Bharti Airtel, and Kotak Mahindra Bank were leading the gains among the Sensex constituent stocks.

Among the broader market indices, the Nifty MidCap and the SmallCap were trading higher by 0.49 per cent, and 0.57 per cent, respectively.

Barring FMCG, pharma, and financial services, all other sectoral indices on the NSE were trading in positive territory.

Buzzing Stocks

Reliance Industries share price rallied 2.14 per cent after the FMCG arm of the company, Reliance Consumer Products, forayed into healthy functional beverage space with the acquisition of a majority stake in a joint venture (JV) with Naturedge Beverages.

Additionally, Reliance Jio has discontinued its entry-level 1GB per day prepaid plans, priced at ₹209 for 22 days and ₹249 for 28 days. The new effective entry plan for prepaid users now starts at ₹299, which offers 1.5GB per day for 28 days. Earlier, this same plan cost ₹249.

Vedanta share price, meanwhile, added 1.5 per cent as the board is set to consider the second interim dividend on equity shares in a meeting on Thursday, August 21, 2025. The record date for determining the entitlement of equity shareholders, if the dividend is declared, is fixed as August 27.
