Ravindra Jadeja Ready for CSK Exit After Dhoni Talks; RR Unhappy With Sam Curran Offer as Sanju Samson Deal Takes New Twist: Report

A blockbuster trade deal is reportedly in the works between the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Rajasthan Royals (RR), with Sanju Samson at the centre of one of the most high-profile negotiations in IPL history.

According to The Indian Express, CSK have offered two players — star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and England’s Sam Curran — in exchange for Samson. However, the Royals are said to be unhappy with the proposal, as they have their sights set on Sri Lankan fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana, whom Chennai are unwilling to release.

The report says Rajasthan reignited talks with CSK after Samson expressed his wish to end his seven-year stint with the Royals ahead of the upcoming mini-auction in December. Earlier discussions had fallen through when Chennai refused to trade any of their key players.

Jadeja open to move after talks with Dhoni

Rajasthan reportedly wanted an Indian spinner as part of the deal and pushed for Jadeja from the start. Sources told The Indian Express that CSK only resumed talks after extensive discussions between Jadeja, captain MS Dhoni, current skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, and head coach Stephen Fleming.

“Dhoni was involved in the discussions with Jadeja to gauge his interest, and only after the all-rounder agreed on a move to Rajasthan did the talks progress,” the report said.

The Royals initially explored the possibility of acquiring Shivam Dube, but Chennai declined and instead proposed Curran as the second player in the trade. However, Rajasthan remain adamant about Pathirana, who CSK see as a key long-term asset and Dhoni’s trusted death-overs specialist.

If finalized, the deal would mark one of the most significant trades in IPL history, potentially reshaping the balance of both franchises ahead of the 2025 season.
