Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana Sells 85,000 Tickets, Earns ₹4.88 Crore In Advance Bookings
Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, has made an encouraging start at the advance booking window, selling nearly 85,000 tickets and collecting ₹4.88 crore across India in less than a day. The first instalment of the two-part epic is scheduled to release in cinemas on November 5, coinciding with Diwali.
The makers opened advance bookings on Tuesday, more than 15 days before the film’s theatrical release. The early numbers indicate considerable audience interest in the ambitious adaptation of the Indian epic.
According to Sacnilk, as of 8 am on Wednesday, the film had sold 84,969 tickets across 104 cities. Its advance booking collection stood at ₹4.88 crore, including block bookings. Excluding block bookings, the collection was ₹3.05 crore.
The Hindi version accounted for the overwhelming majority of sales, generating ₹4.62 crore, or approximately 95% of the total. The dubbed Kannada version followed with ₹24.92 lakh, while the Telugu version collected ₹47,400. The film’s reported overall occupancy stood at 11%.
Delhi-NCR Leads Ramayana Advance Bookings
Delhi-NCR has emerged as the biggest contributor to the film’s advance booking revenue, followed by Mumbai and other major cities.
The city-wise figures reported for Ramayana are:
- Delhi-NCR: ₹1.42 crore from 18,674 tickets
- Mumbai: ₹1.01 crore from 14,823 tickets
- Pune: ₹27.36 lakh from 4,200 tickets
- Kolkata: ₹22.03 lakh from 4,092 tickets
- Bengaluru: ₹19.18 lakh from 4,105 tickets
Despite Mumbai’s relatively high ticket prices, the city has recorded the second-highest number of tickets sold so far.

Ticket prices for premium screenings have attracted attention ahead of the film’s release.
BookMyShow lists the film as Namit Malhotra’s Ramayana. Recliner seats for the 6:55 pm and 11 pm IMAX 3D screenings at PVR ICON: Phoenix Palladium in Mumbai’s Lower Parel are priced at ₹2,770 for both November 5 and November 6.

Ramayana Advance Bookings Delayed Amid Distribution Dispute
The advance booking process did not begin as widely expected on Tuesday morning.
The makers had announced on Monday that bookings would open on Dussehra. However, tickets initially became available only for a limited number of screenings, reportedly amid a dispute between distributor Dharma Productions and exhibitors over revenue-sharing arrangements during the first three weeks.
The customary distributor share for a new release is reportedly 52.5% in the first week, 45% in the second and 37.5% in the third. Dharma Productions reportedly sought a higher share of 60%, 50% and 40%, respectively, citing the film’s scale and strong anticipation.
Dharma Productions acquired the pan-India distribution rights for both instalments of Ramayana for more than ₹250 crore earlier this year.
The makers subsequently announced on Tuesday that advance bookings had opened across India.
Yash Unveils Ravana’s ‘Ravana Tandav’ Video
The nationwide booking announcement coincided with the release of a promotional video featuring Yash as Ravana. Titled Rise of Asura in Hindi, the video depicts Ravana’s evolution against the backdrop of the Ravana Tandav hymn dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Vishal Dadlani has sung the Hindi version, with lyrics by Kumar Vishwas. The Tamil version features vocals by Anirudh Ravichander and GV Prakash Kumar. Music supervision was handled by AR Ameen and Hiral Viradia.
Yash’s portrayal of Ravana is among the film’s major attractions, alongside Ranbir Kapoor’s casting as Lord Rama and Sai Pallavi’s performance as Sita.
Sunny Deol, Ravi Dubey And Others Join The Cast
Co-produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, Ramayana features an ensemble cast.
Alongside Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash, the film stars Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, Arun Govil as Dasharatha, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, Anupam Kher as Jatayu and Rakul Preet Singh as Surpanakha.
Sony Pictures International will handle the film’s overseas distribution, although advance bookings in international markets had not opened at the time of the reported figures.
With bookings now open across India, the film’s advance sales will be closely watched as its Diwali release approaches.
