Ramayana: Ranbir Kapoor-Sai Pallavi’s Ram-Sita Bond Takes Centre Stage In First Song Jai Jai Ram

Ramayana: Part 1 has begun its music campaign with the release of Jai Jai Ram, unveiled by the makers on Ganesh Chaturthi. Composed by AR Rahman, with lyrics by Dr Kumar Vishwas and vocals by Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal, the devotional track offers the first glimpse into the musical world of the much-awaited epic.

The song’s release was accompanied by a new motion poster featuring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Sai Pallavi as Sita. The makers shared the poster with the words, “Celebrating the timeless bond of Siya Ram”, placing their relationship at the heart of the film’s first musical reveal.

More music is expected to follow, with Rahman and Hans Zimmer also set to collaborate for a special musical evening in London.

AR Rahman On Creating Jai Jai Ram

Rahman said the challenge with Jai Jai Ram was to preserve the feeling of a prayer while giving the composition the scale and emotional depth of a cinematic song.

“At the heart of ‘Jai Jai Ram’ is the simple and powerful repetition of Shri Ram’s name. Musically, the intention was to preserve the purity and intimacy of a prayer while allowing the composition to grow into a cinematic song,” Rahman said.

He praised Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal for bringing their distinct emotional expressions to Vishwas’ lyrics while retaining the devotional essence of the song.

“I hope audiences find both a sense of peace and a personal connection in it,” he added.

Kumar Vishwas On The Song’s Meaning

For lyricist Kumar Vishwas, the song began with three simple words but was intended to convey a deeper relationship between devotees and Lord Ram.

“Jai Jai Ram are three simple words, yet within them lies a complete prayer,” Vishwas said.

He explained that his intention was not to describe Lord Ram, but to capture the bond devotees share with him as a guide, source of strength and refuge.

“The language has been kept simple and direct because true devotion needs no ornamentation. I hope that when people hear the song, they do not merely listen to it, but find their own prayer within it,” he said.

Why Jai Jai Ram Was Released On Ganesh Chaturthi

Producer Namit Malhotra said the decision to launch the first song on Ganesh Chaturthi was significant because Lord Ram lies at the centre of Ramayana and the festival traditionally marks an auspicious beginning.

“Shri Ram is at the heart of Ramayana and, for generations, has been the guide we turn to through every phase of life,” Malhotra said.

He added that although the film is being mounted on a large scale, its foundation lies in emotion, values and devotion.

“With Jai Jai Ram, we wanted our first song to reflect that soul — to celebrate Shri Ram not only as someone we worship, but as the protector, guide and source of strength we carry within us,” he said.

Ramayana Part 1 Release Date

As the theatrical release approaches, Ramayana: Part 1 has entered its final stages of production. The patchwork shoot has reportedly been completed, with the team now concentrating on post-production.

The makers are also expected to embark on a major international promotional tour ahead of the film’s release.

Ramayana: Part 1 is scheduled for a worldwide release on November 6, 2026, followed by its India release on November 8, around Diwali. The second part is slated to arrive in theatres during Diwali 2027.

The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman and Arun Govil as King Dasharatha.
