Rahul Gandhi Alleges ‘Centralised Vote Fraud’ in Haryana, Cites Brazilian Model’s Photo Used 22 Times in Voter List

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday escalated his allegations of large-scale electoral fraud in the 2024 Haryana Assembly elections, claiming that the party’s “landslide victory was stolen through a coordinated operation”.

Holding up what he called “proof”, Gandhi displayed the photograph of a Brazilian model whose stock image, he alleged, was used 22 times across 10 different polling booths under multiple voter names including Seema, Sweety, Saraswati, Rashmi, and Vilma.

“Who is this lady? Where does she live? How is she voting 22 times in Haryana?” Gandhi asked during a press conference in New Delhi, calling the incident symbolic of a “centrally executed vote theft”.

‘The H Files’

Launching what he called “The H Files”, the Leader of Opposition said Congress would have “swept Haryana” if not for the alleged manipulation.

Gandhi claimed that 25 lakh fake or invalid voters were included in the electoral roll — 12.5% of the state’s total electorate — including:

  • 5.21 lakh duplicate voters

  • 93,174 invalid voters

  • 19.26 lakh bulk voters

“We lost by just 22,000 votes. This is not a narrow defeat — this is theft of democracy,” he declared.

He also accused the Election Commission of acting “at the behest of the BJP”, adding:

“I’m questioning the EC and the democratic process — and I am doing it with 100% proof.”

Election Commission Responds

The Election Commission dismissed the allegations, questioning why Congress polling agents did not raise objections at voting booths if fraud was suspected.

An EC official countered:

“What were Congress agents doing at polling stations? No objections were filed, no appeals were made.”

The official also pointed out that Congress had earlier opposed the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, which is designed to remove duplicate and ineligible voters.

Third Allegation in a Series

This is Rahul Gandhi’s third briefing on alleged “vote chori”. In previous ones, he accused the EC of mass voter deletions and additions and promised to reveal what he described as a “hydrogen bomb” of evidence.

He appealed to young voters, saying:

“This is about your future. If elections can be stolen, democracy is meaningless.”

The BJP has not yet issued a formal response, but party leaders have previously dismissed Gandhi’s claims as “excuses after defeat”.
