Putin Briefed Modi on Trump Talks During SCO Summit Limousine Ride
Russian President Vladimir Putin revealed that he updated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his discussions with US President Donald Trump in Alaska while traveling together in his Aurus limousine during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Tianjin, China.
Speaking to reporters, Putin said, “This is no secret, I told him (Modi) what we talked about in Alaska,” as reported by TASS. The SCO summit, held on August 31 and September 1, saw over 20 world leaders in attendance.
The two leaders spent a total of about 45 minutes inside the limousine continuing their discussion even after reaching the hotel for their bilateral meeting. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov noted that the setting allowed them to have an uninterrupted, important conversation, with the vehicle providing privacy and comfort.
Modi shared a photo of the two inside the limousine on social media, stating, “Conversations with him are always insightful,” and emphasized that India and Russia have stood “shoulder-to-shoulder” in challenging times, highlighting the significance of their bilateral ties for global peace.
Experts in Moscow noted that Putin’s limousine is highly secure against eavesdropping, suggesting the discussion likely covered sensitive matters. Putin is scheduled to visit India in December for further summit talks with Modi.
