Priyanka Chaturvedi Mocks Trump’s India-Pakistan Ceasefire Claim: ‘Where’s the Trade Deal?’
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi on Saturday slammed former US President Donald Trump over his repeated claims that his administration helped defuse tensions between India and Pakistan through a proposed trade deal, questioning the very existence of such an agreement.
Responding on social media platform X to Trump’s latest remarks — including an unverified claim that “five jets were shot down” during a military standoff between the two nations — Chaturvedi questioned, “If Donald Trump keeps repeating the trade deal got India and Pakistan to agree to a ceasefire, then how is it that India-US don’t have a trade deal yet?”
She further added, “Is that why POTUS keeps repeating it — to build pressure on India? Since even America knows there’s no trade deal with Pakistan, there’s only a terror deal, because that’s the only thing Pakistan excels in.”
Trump, speaking on Friday, again claimed credit for easing tensions between India and Pakistan, saying a ceasefire was reached because the US threatened to withhold a trade agreement. “India and Pakistan were going at it… it was getting bigger and bigger, and we got it solved through trade,” he said. “We said, you guys want to make a trade deal? We’re not making a trade deal if you’re going to be throwing around weapons — and maybe nuclear weapons.”
India has consistently denied any foreign mediation or trade linkage behind its ceasefire understanding with Pakistan, rejecting Trump’s assertions as baseless.
