PM Narendra Modi in Varanasi Today: To Launch ₹2,200 Crore Development Projects Across Key Sectors
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Varanasi today, where he is set to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for development projects worth around ₹2,200 crore. The initiatives span infrastructure, education, health, tourism, energy, and urban development—aiming to give a major boost to his parliamentary constituency.
“For my family members in Kashi, today is a very special day,” PM Modi said on X. “I will dedicate and initiate several projects that will transform key sectors and improve quality of life.”
Major Highlights of the Varanasi Visit:

Urban Infrastructure & Roads: Inauguration of the Varanasi–Bhadohi road, Chhitauni–Shool Tankeshwar road, and a new railway overbridge at Hardattpur. PM will also lay the foundation for road and corridor upgrades across Lahartara–Kotwa, Gangapur, Dalmandi, and Babatpur, along with new overbridges at key junctions.

Electricity & Power Supply: Launch of Smart Distribution Project and underground electrical infrastructure work worth over ₹880 crore, aiming at uninterrupted and modern power supply.

Tourism & Heritage: Redevelopment of 8 riverfront ghats, beautification of Rangildas Kutiya pond, development of Kalika Dham, and restoration of Durgakund. PM will also lay the foundation for Kardameshwar Mahadev Temple restoration, upgrades to Munshi Premchand’s ancestral home, and creation of a Miyawaki forest.

Water & Sanitation: Inauguration of 47 rural drinking water schemes under the Jal Jeevan Mission and launch of water purification and maintenance work at various historic kunds.

Education: Inauguration of upgraded facilities in 53 schools, along with foundation stones for a new district library and renovations at key government high schools.

Healthcare: Installation of robotic surgery and advanced diagnostic tools at Mahamana Cancer Centre and Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital. PM will also initiate a Homoeopathic College and Hospital, plus animal care facilities.
PM Modi’s visit reflects a continued focus on comprehensive development, blending modernization with cultural rejuvenation in Varanasi.
