Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday at the Semicon India Conference 2025 said the world trusts India and is ready to partner in shaping the future of semiconductors, positioning the country as a key player in the global chip ecosystem.

Highlighting the government’s plans, Modi announced the launch of the “next generation of reforms” to further boost the sector. “The day is not far when the world will say: Designed in India, Made in India, and Trusted by the World. Even the smallest chip made in India will drive the biggest change globally,” he said.

On policy measures, the Prime Minister revealed that India is developing a Critical Minerals Mission to secure rare earths and other resources vital for semiconductor manufacturing. “Oil was black gold, but chips are diamonds,” he added, stressing the strategic importance of the industry.

Since 2021, India has approved 10 semiconductor projects with investments worth USD 18 billion, demonstrating strong global confidence in the country’s potential, Modi noted.

The Prime Minister also highlighted India’s economic resilience, pointing out a 7.8% GDP growth in April-June 2025, surpassing expectations despite global headwinds. “This shows the resilience of our economy and the opportunities India offers to the world,” he said.
