PM Modi to Inaugurate Bengaluru’s Yellow Line Metro, Launch Vande Bharat Express to Belagavi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bengaluru this morning to inaugurate the city’s long-awaited Yellow Line Metro, connecting RV Road to Bommasandra and linking the crucial Electronics City hub to the rest of the network.
The 19.15 km corridor, covering 16 stations, is expected to transform connectivity for southern Bengaluru’s residential and industrial zones, easing traffic bottlenecks such as the Silk Board Junction.
Alongside the Metro launch, PM Modi will flag off the Bengaluru–Belagavi Vande Bharat Express and lay the foundation stone for Namma Metro’s ₹15,611 crore Phase 3 expansion. Regular Yellow Line services will begin on August 11, with three trains running every 25 minutes in the initial phase.
Built at a cost of ₹5,056.99 crore, the Yellow Line is projected to carry nearly 8 lakh daily commuters, linking major employers like Infosys, Biocon, and TCS, and offering much-needed relief to one of the city’s most congested corridors.
