PM Modi to Address Nation at 5 PM Ahead of GST Rate Cut

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation at 5 pm on Sunday, sources said. While the exact purpose of the address has not been disclosed, it comes a day before the GST rate cuts announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman take effect on Monday, September 22. These cuts are expected to reduce prices on several consumer products.

Earlier, PM Modi extended greetings for Mahalaya on X, saying:

“Wishing you all Shubho Mahalaya! As the sacred days of Durga Puja draw near, may our lives be filled with light and purpose. May the divine blessings of Maa Durga bring unwavering strength, lasting joy and wonderful health.”

On Monday, the Prime Minister will visit Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura. In Arunachal Pradesh, he will lay the foundation stone for development projects worth over ₹5,100 crore in Itanagar, including two major hydropower projects and a state-of-the-art Convention Centre at Tawang, and address a public function, according to a PMO press release.

In Tripura, PM Modi will inaugurate development work at the ‘Mata Tripura Sundari Temple Complex’ in Matabari.
