PM Modi Pays Tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on 150th Jayanti at Statue of Unity

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday paid floral tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 150th birth anniversary at the Statue of Unity in Nandia, Gujarat. With folded hands, he honoured the “Iron Man of India,” recalling his pivotal role in uniting the nation.

PM Modi led the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) parade, which featured women personnel and was commanded by IPS officer Simran Bhardwaj of the Gujarat cadre. Accompanied by thousands of participants, the Prime Minister administered the oath of unity, pledging to uphold the country’s integrity and security.

“I solemnly swear to dedicate myself to preserving the unity, integrity, and security of the nation… inspired by the foresight and hard work of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel,” PM Modi recited.

Earlier, he shared a tribute on X (formerly Twitter), writing:

“India pays homage to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 150th Jayanti. He was the driving force behind India’s integration, shaping our nation’s destiny in its formative years. His unwavering commitment to national integrity, good governance, and public service continues to inspire generations.”

Born on October 31, 1875, in Nandia, Gujarat, Sardar Patel served as India’s first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister. Revered as the architect of India’s political integration, he unified over 560 princely states, ensuring the foundation of a strong and united nation after Independence.
