Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the 11th International Yoga Day celebrations on Friday at a spectacular gathering in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, held under the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.”

The large-scale event saw an estimated five lakh participants take part in a mass yoga session stretching across a 26-kilometre coastal stretch from Ramakrishna Beach in Visakhapatnam to Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram district.

Joining the Prime Minister were Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, and State IT Minister Nara Lokesh, who performed yoga alongside citizens at the RK Beach venue.

Modi: “Yoga is a Global Movement for Peace and Health”

Addressing the massive gathering, PM Modi reflected on the international recognition of yoga, recalling India’s proposal in 2014 at the United Nations to declare June 21 as International Yoga Day—a resolution that was co-sponsored by 175 countries and passed with overwhelming support.

“Today, yoga has become an integral part of life for crores across the globe. It has crossed borders, cultures, and generations, uniting humanity through the path of wellness,” Modi said.

He described yoga as more than a physical exercise, calling it a means of holistic well-being, mental clarity, and spiritual resilience. “Whether it’s the Sydney Opera House or the summit of Mount Everest, yoga has reached every corner of the world,” he added.

The Prime Minister also praised the Andhra Pradesh government for the scale and organization of the event, thanking CM Naidu and his team for their extensive arrangements.

Naidu: “Yoga is a Movement, AI is Making it More Accessible”

Chief Minister Naidu lauded the Prime Minister’s role in transforming yoga into a global phenomenon. “Today, yoga is practiced in 175 countries and at 12 lakh locations. It plays a vital role in improving both physical and mental health,” he said.

Highlighting the use of artificial intelligence in promoting yoga, Naidu said AI tools are making yoga more accessible to the masses. He also shared that 22,000 tribal students had set a Guinness World Record through a synchronized Surya Namaskar performance, crediting Modi’s leadership for enabling such achievements.

He noted that 1.44 lakh yoga instructors have registered in Andhra Pradesh, actively contributing to the Yoga Andhra movement, turning yoga into “a mission and a symbol of strength.”

Pawan Kalyan: “Yoga is Nation-Building in Action”

Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan emphasized yoga’s expanding social influence, calling it a movement for individual and collective well-being. “Thanks to the Prime Minister’s initiative, yoga has gained mass momentum. It’s not just about personal fitness—it’s about building a healthy community and a better world,” he said.

He echoed the day’s theme of “One Earth, One Health,” and urged everyone to uphold this vision by spreading awareness and embracing healthier lifestyles.

“This is a historic day. Inspired by Modi ji, we will continue to strive for excellence and bring pride to the Telugu people,” Kalyan added.

The celebration marked a powerful showcase of India’s cultural heritage and its global resonance, with leaders and citizens coming together to reinforce yoga’s role in building a healthier, more harmonious world.
